JENNIFER ROMEN

At the age of twelve, Jennifer was inspired to start dancing by one of the greats: Michael Jackson. Fortunately, her talent for the art was more “Human Nature” than “Bad,” and Jennifer's mother took her to a few dance schools to nurture her skill. She quickly flourished as a dancer, going on to compete as a soloist in the hip-hop battle and competition scene. During this time, Jennifer earned notable titles, including triple European Champion, triple World Champion, and Gold at the World Dance Sport Games in Taiwan. Through these accomplishments, Jennifer had already made a name for herself in the Urban dance scene.

However, she didn't want to stop there and decided to pursue dance as a profession. Jennifer studied classical dance at the ‘Opleiding Dans Maastricht’ under Codarts, the Rotterdam Dance Academy, and graduated in 2012. Following this, she spent a year studying Urban/Contemporary dance at Fontys Hogeschool voor de Kunsten. Throughout and after her studies, Jennifer continued to build her career as both a dancer and choreographer.

Currently, Jennifer is a successful choreographer, working in both commercial and theatre worlds. She has choreographed for several well-known Dutch TV shows, such as Dance Dance Dance and DanceSing, serves as the head choreographer of Oxygen, and works as a choreographer for the Sally Dansgezelschap Maastricht theatre company.

In 2020, Jennifer won the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds Award Limburg. Additionally, in 2023, Jennifer stormed the big theatres with her first full-length performance, Delusion, a visual tour de force consisting of three parts that consistently misled the audience through the use of illusions. The astonishing, moving, and meticulously executed coming-of-age performance touched a wide audience.

Jennifer specializes in isolations as well as Urban/Contemporary dance (a fusion of Contemporary and hip-hop techniques). Her work is characterized by refreshing creativity, innovation, and stunning illusory visual effects.
